Job Planning – 11 minutes
Explains some of the basic considerations for planning a transmission line installation job. Describes and demonstrates how to determine the length of wire needed for stringing, how to calculate the average span length, and how to calculate a ruling span. Explains what guard structures are and when they are used.

Job Preparation – 11 minutes
Explains the basic preparation necessary for stringing wire. Describes some of the basic equipment that must be assembled in preparation for stringing wire. Explains where the equipment necessary for stringing wire is generally placed on the section of line being strung. Explains why it is important to pull wire under tension.

Pulling Conductor – 11 minutes
Describes and demonstrates how a pilot line, a bull line, and a conductor are pulled into position. Explains the basic concerns associated with the pulling process.

Sagging, Part 1 – 9 minutes
Explains the purpose of sagging wire. Basic considerations that must be taken into account when sagging wire. Shows how to prepare to sag wire. Describes or demonstrates how a dynamometer is used for sagging wire.

Sagging, Part 2 – 12 minutes Describes or demonstrates how a transit or a sagging scope can be used for sagging wire. Describes or demonstrates the stopwatch method of sagging wire.

Clipping In – 6 minutes Demonstrates and explains the basic process of clipping in. Identifies some additional items that may be installed on transmission lines.
